He first knew he wanted to be a barber when he realized how well he could cut his own hair. In no time, he mastered his own hair cut, astonishing the neighbor kids who requested haircuts for themselves. From that point, Ray became the neighborhood barber, cutting hair during the week and weekend, after school. Shortly after Ray graduated from high school, he moved to the Inland Empire. In 1991, Ray begin barber school at Rosston’s Men Hair Designs in San Bernardino. Ray mastered his course and begin working immediately at Ray’s Barber Shop located in Moreno Valley. Ray had the ambition and drive to open his Barber Shop. After working at 3 different locations, he decided it was time to work for himself. In 2003, Ray began searching for a location to open his own shop. As he was driving in the south east area of Riverside, he located a building at 3907 Tyler Ave. This is where he opened his Barber Salon “Nappy Roots” and has been located there for 10 years. Ray cherishes his three wonderful children. Raymond M. Aldridge IV, Mia Aldridge, and Rayvon Aldridge. He instills in his children daily the importance of striving to be the very best people they can be and to do the very best they can do. This teaching is the reason Ray has become successful with his business.
Raymond Aldridge IV, but I also go by “RJ”. I am a Master Barber and have been cutting for the past 7 years. I started soon after graduating from Rosstons Barber School in 2006. I eat, breath and sleep hair and I am always learning new tips and tricks to keep my technique up at a high standard. Not only do I enjoy the barber shop atmosphere for meeting new people, I also love working side by side with my father because it keeps it a family establishment and that’s something I want to share with my son.
